Accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF — processed locally

Tool Information

The editor crops, rotates, and flips a single photo in your browser. Legal Crop options lock the aspect ratio; Free Crop lets you trim freely. Output is JPEG.

Local processing

Editing happens in your browser; your photo is not intentionally uploaded to ImageToSend servers.

Browser-tested example

Measured in a manual Chrome browser test with a generic test image. JPEG file size varies by image and browser.

Input

Format:
PNG
Dimensions:
1400 × 1000 px
Size:
15.78 KB (15,783 bytes)

Operations

Step 1:
Rotate 90°
Step 2:
Flip Horizontal

Output

Format:
JPEG
Dimensions:
1000 × 1400 px
Size:
64.83 KB (64,829 bytes)

Key takeaway: Rotation swaps the pixel dimensions, and horizontal flip mirrors the rotated image without changing its dimensions.

How it works & limitations

What the Document Editor can prepare

The Document Editor makes structural adjustments to a single photo, all in your browser. You can rotate a sideways or upside-down image, flip it horizontally or vertically, and crop it — either freely or with a Legal Crop that locks the aspect ratio to a common document-photo format (US Passport & Visa at 1:1, Europe Passport at 35:45, or Standard ID at 3:4). These are framing and orientation fixes: they help you present the subject correctly before you submit.

What it does NOT do

  • •It does not certify official compliance with any authority's photo rules.
  • •It cannot restore detail that was never captured — a blurry or dark photo stays blurry or dark.
  • •It does not guarantee an ID, passport, or visa photo will be accepted.
  • •It does not remove or replace backgrounds — it only crops and reorients what is already in the frame.
  • •It does not validate government rules on head size, expression, or background color.

Legal Crop clarification

Legal Crop controls aspect ratio only. Selecting a preset locks the crop box to that shape so you can frame your subject consistently, but it does not set pixel dimensions, print resolution, background color, head size, or expression rules.

Cropping to a ratio does not guarantee acceptance by any issuing authority or portal. Always confirm the destination's full photo specification before submitting.

Common preparation mistakes

  • •Cropping away a required edge — some photo rules need the full head and shoulders, so check the spec before trimming.
  • •Leaving the orientation wrong — always rotate first, then crop, so the crop box matches the upright frame.
  • •Trying to fix a bad capture through crop — a poorly lit or motion-blurred photo cannot be salvaged by cropping alone.
  • •Using the wrong destination requirements — 1:1, 35:45, and 3:4 are different ratios; pick the one the destination actually asks for.
